At Camp Run-A-Mutt,
it's all about the dogs...
The award-winning Camp Run-A-Mutt™ is the premier cage free doggie daycare and boarding paradise! Our indoor/outdoor camp is beautiful (see for yourself on our Muttcams), fun, safe and supervised 24/7. Camp Run-A-Mutt™ Chula Vista features over 16000 square feet of indoor and outdoor play area for your dog to romp, play and socialize to their heart's content! Watch your camper online as they run on the spacious grassy area, cool off in the custom waterfall/splashpond, relax on the sun deck or under the cooling misters on a hot day. We also offer dog washing, grooming, boutique, obedience training and surprises you’ll find only at Camp Run-A-Mutt™. Your pup will love it, and so will you.
It's not just the amenities that make us unique. Camp Run-A-Mutt™ is also 100% cage-free for both daycare and overnight boarding. Your pup will receive exceptional care by our well-trained, attentive staff who are certified in pet CPR and first aid. Overnight Campers enjoy the security of a caring human in the same room while they snooze. Our goal is to make boarding fun by minimizing the stress and anxiety some dogs experience when they are away from home. “Pack boarding” instead of cages, human love instead of being alone, it’s a no brainer.

Our daycare lets dogs do what dogs do best: run with the pack, play with friends (both human and dog), chase balls, splash in our splash pond/waterfall, lounge in the sun or simply hide safely away on top of one of our many structures and watch the hi-jinx. See for yourself on our Muttcams.
Like our daycare, boarding is also cage free. This means, “pack boarding" indoors with the pack and mothered by our qualified alpha human. Our staff stays with your pup all night to make sure they are safe, comfortable, relaxed and all their needs are met. A good nights sleep tonight means a sharp mind and lots of energy tomorrow.
Our groomers are skilled, patient and most importantly, love dogs. Dogs who get groomed at our camp get to play right up until their appointment. Most dogs actually enjoy the break and our groomer knows that tired dogs are more relaxed and easier to groom. It’s really a win/win for everyone.
Even the best dogs can develop undesirable behaviors. All Camp Run-A-Mutt trainers practice positive re-enforcement methods which is the most humane and effective training there is. Most camps offer a variety of obedience options, like on-site classes, "board and train”, and one-on-one training.
What our customers say
I am so incredibly impressed with Camp Run a Mutt. The staff is great. The obedience classes are very reasonably priced. And they reenforce the training at camp. Paul runs a tight ship and it shows in how amazing everyone is with my little Augustus. This place gives that kind of hometown feeling in a big city. Plus, the nanny cam lets me check up on my boy. You can't buy that kind of peace of mind.Robin DSan Diego, CA
My pomeranian Romeo loves this place!! As soon as he gets in the door he's happy and ready for a fun stay with his fur friends. He's gone in for daycare and this time around he was boarded for 3 long days and nights. The only sad one was me I called to check on my pooch and they said he was doing great I also would take a look from the mutt cams and see him having a great time. I feel safe and trust camp run a mutt with my baby. Clean, nice and amazing staff romeo gets spoiled there alot. Thank you camp run a mutt for your trusted services. Romeo will be back soon for a day of playEvelyn S.National City, CA
Our husky pup Nyx absolutely loves this place! We began bringing her twice a week to get her prepared for an overnight board. The first visit was a tour for us and a 15 minute temperment test. We were able to observe through the live cams and Paul showed us the app and shortcut for Android. The cams are great because I can see Nyx happily playing with pups, in the splash pond, and being cared for by the staff. She's able to safely unleash her Husky energy and be in a good, social setting. Nyx just finished her first overnight stay and was well behaved, ate well, and is tuckered out from all the excitement and play. The Chula Vista location specifically got recommended by multiple dog owners we met at Balboa Park and I can understand why. The hours are great, prices are reasonable, and staff is knowledgeable. Wish we would've known about this before!Liz M.San Diego, CA
Meet the owners
Originally from the Midwest, Paul (from Nebraska) and Chad (from Indiana) each had a vast history of owning family pets – primarily dogs but also cats, birds, rats and even squirrels. They moved to San Diego in 1993 with a dream of one day working together helping animals. As with most things, dreams cost money, so their dream was put on hold. Paul has spent the last 17 years in banking and mortgage loan originating while Chad’s career took him into more of a technical direction. Most recently Chad spent the last 15 years in the IT department of a clinical staffing company as a Systems Analyst/Project Manager.
After being introduced to Camp Run-A-Mutt, Paul and Chad knew they found a business concept that had everything they were looking for so they could live out their dream. They couldn’t wait for their two miniature pinschers Ace and Dash to have their first day at Camp as well as spending their working days with lots of other four-legged friends. As a fellow dog-lover you know that your pets are not just pets, but a part of the family. You can rest assured that at camp your four-legged family members are happy, safe, and sound under the watchful eye of the well-trained staff (as well as yours, through the website “Muttcams”).
